TACCA recently attended a hearing at the Texas Capitol, where discussions centered on the implementation of House Bill 1859 (HB 1859) from the 88th Regular Legislative Session.

This new law lowers the minimum age for applying for a registered air conditioning and refrigeration (ACR) technician certification from 18 to 16. The measure aims to open doors for young professionals to enter the industry earlier, ensuring they gain hands-on experience under the direct supervision of a licensed ACR contractor or certified technician until they turn 18.

TACCA is actively involved in shaping how these changes will be applied, advocating for clear pathways and structured support to help the next generation of HVAC/R professionals thrive
