Day 1: ACCA Manual J 8th Edition – Residential Load Calculations Receive complete instructions for estimating heat loss and heat gain for residential structures. Using MJ8ae we will cover the process that produces equipment sizing loads for single-family-detached homes, small multi-unit structures, condominiums, townhouses, and manufactured homes. It provides quick supplemental details and advanced topics as well as supporting reference tables and appendices. Day 2: Manual S 2nd Edition, ACCA/ANSI Quality Installation, And Software The focus here is how to properly select equipment for a dwelling using a detailed heating & cooling load calculation and actual OEM performance data from different manufacturers (Air Conditioning/ Heat Pumps/ Gas Furnaces). The duct design portion may begin at some point during this 2nd day. Day 3: Manual D 3rd Edition – Residential Duct Systems Designing a residential duct system as per ACCA Manual D will be the focus. You can apply this procedure to constant volume systems and zoned, variable air volume systems, over the full range of duct con struction materials. Manual D also includes the most comprehensive equivalent length data ever published. Gain a thorough grounding in the requirements of ACCA/ANSI Standard 5 QI, the blueprint for installing an HVAC system that will qualify for Energy Star v 3.0. Calculations, equipment selection, and duct design with software products will not be taught during the class. ACCA recommends, but does not require the attendee to have a laptop that can run Microsoft Office with them. They can follow along with the instructor's slides and spread sheets. The MJ8ae speed sheet (its an excel spread sheet) to explain the Manual J process, the Manual S speed sheet is used to show the proper process to select equipment. The 8th edition software products that are recognized by ACCA will be covered (briefly), both pros and cons will be covered .
